FAQs
From The Starfish and the Spider
Why did we write the book?
Our goal is to have a positive impact on society. For the past five years, we've researched what happens when seemingly chaotic organizations take on the biggest and strongest industries and governments. What we discovered was truly surprising. We wanted to share our enthusiasm about the amazing force that links some of today’s most successful companies and social movements.
What was the hardest part of writing the book?
There were so many great stories we wanted to share, but only so many pages. Much of the source material had to be cut to give the readers something they could absorb in a handful of hours.
How did we choose the title?
The working title for the book from May of 2004 until February of 2006 was The Decentralized Revolution. We loved that title but agreed with our editors that The Starfish and The Spider really captures it. There's a mystery about what the starfish and the spider represent.
What's next for the authors?
We have a couple of ideas up our sleeve. What do you think we should next write about?
